Quick and Easy Braised Tofu….

Hey my Pretty Readers…. I am back with yet another yummy quick and easy recipe that is healthy too.

I have never tried Tofu before and I just grabbed it when I saw it at the food-store. Although I got it with much enthusiasm, I was not sure what to do with it.

Now tofu is much similar to Paneer which I have tried and experimented with many times. So I got to experimenting with Tofu as well. And let me tell you this recipe turned out to be awesome.

So without further ado, lets get started…


1 package of tofu (18 ounces: 510 grams)
1 tsp chopped green chillies
1 tsp sesame seeds
cooking oil
1 clove garlic minced
1/2 cup chopped onions
1/2 cup chopped green onions
1 tsp finely chopped cilantro
1/2 cup chopped tomatoes
1 tsp green chillie sauce
1 tsp shezwan sauce
1/2 tsp soya sauce
1/2 tsp tomato ketchup
salt to taste


Rinse tofu in cold running water and dry it with cotton or paper towel. Cut it into thick bite size pieces.
Add the cooking oil to a pan on high heat
Gently set the tofu onto the pan and cook for 7 to 8 minutes.
Flip when the bottoms get a little brown,
Cook for another 7 to 8 minutes until both sides are a little crispy and golden brown.
Remove to a plate.(I cut the pieces further to smaller pieces after removing to the plate)


Heat 1 tsp oil in another pan.
Add the minced garlic and green chillies.
As the chillies are spluttering, add the chopped onions.
Cook until the onions are browned and add the tomatoes.
Stir a bit and add green chillie sauce, shezwan sauce, soy suace and tomato ketchup.
Stir and cook for a minute.
Then add the Tofu, little bit of the green onions and cilantro and stir again.
In a separate pan, toast the sesame seeds.

Remove to a serving dish and garnish with the toasted sesame seeds and leftover green onions and cilantro.

This dish is very easy and gives a spicy kick to the taste buds…
